Extension service providers of SDS attend NEAP consultation

Center Director Samuel Calonzo explained the connection between NEAP and Mandanas ruling during Day 1 of the Provincial Consultation-Workshop held at Selades Apartelle and Convention Center in Tandag City last July 13, 2021.

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – Day 1 of the Provincial Consultation-Workshops on the Development of the National Extension Agenda and Programs (NEAP) for the Fiscal Year 2022-2028 was successfully completed because of its good turnout of participants and positive feedback. The said event took place in Selades Apartelle and Convention Center last July 13, 2021.

The participants were composed of extension service providers that included Local Government Units (LGUs) from the province, city, and municipal levels; State Universities and Colleges (SUCs); Magsasakang Siyentista (MS); and Farm School owners.

Samuel L. Calonzo, Center Director of ATI-RTC 13, explained to the participants the role of NEAP in the implementation of Mandanas ruling.

Workshop outputs were reported by the participants specifically the representative of the Provincial Agriculture Office of Surigao del Sur, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Barobo, MAO of San Agustin, and the Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office (PFARO) among others.

There were several issues and concerns raised but the most common was the proposed additional personnel at the municipal level. This garnered reactions from the co-participants saying that the lack of manpower that is the problem. What needs to be done is to bring out the full potential of these workers and capacitate them to become effective specialists.
