Mr. Firtzieh Truijillo hosts the SOA program with Ms. Desiree Lee Vasquez as Resource Person during the 1st episode, both from the Provincial Agriculture Office of Surigao del Sur.
TANDAG CITY- The School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on Rice Production is finally airing this morning, July 7, 2020 its first episode. The program will be heard every Tuesday at 5:00-6:00 o’clock in the morning via Radyo Bandera 100.7 News FM radio station based in Tandag City. This will also be heard and viewed via Facebook Page on the said station through livestream.
The SOA program aims to intensify the promotion of rice production in the province of Surigao del Sur through the use of radio as communication medium. Specifically, to address problems and information needs as well as provide brief, accurate and concise information related to rice production.
Moreover, Ms. Desiree Lee Vasquez, Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW) from the province served as the Resource Person during the first episode. She talks on the overview of ‘Palay Check System’, its brief background followed by the morphology of the rice plant as well as its growth and stages related to cultural management in terms of nutrient, water and pest management.
On the other hand, Mr. Fritzieh C. Trujillo hosted the weekly program for 16 weeks which will run starting from July 7, 2020 to October 20, 2020. Since there will be no mass graduation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starter kits and certificates of completion will be given away to the deserving SOA graduates.
This program which was spearheaded by ATI-Caraga was realized and implemented in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Surigao del Sur through its Provincial Agriculture Office headed by Provincial Agriculturist Marcos M. Quico.
