LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – In pursuit to equip Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs) the updated information on agriculture especially rice farming, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 held a Training of Trainers (TOT) of Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs) Refresher Course Batch 1 on June 19-22, 2018 at ATI-Caraga Training Complex, Los Angeles, Butuan City.
Samuel Calonzo, OIC-Center Director of ATI-Caraga, shared three important keys in attaining rice sufficiency in the country during the graduation ceremony.
First key is to increase the production of rice of every farmer. The government, primarily the Department of Agriculture, and private sector has long been providing technology regarding the rice production guide in order to produce more yield in the field. Next is to reduce rice consumption.
The promotion of rice substitute such as cassava, gabi, sweet potatoes (kamote), and other root crops is another solution.
The activity includes topics on farming as a business, insect pest management, mushroom production overview, and rice production and is set for four batches scheduled on the following dates:
Batch 2 - June 25-28, 2018
Batch 3 – July 10-13, 2018
Batch 4 – July 31 – August 3, 2018
