IP Professionals undergo training on handicraft-making

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 conducted a Skills Training on Handicraft-Making for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) on June 17-19, 2019.

IP Professionals comprising IP teachers assigned in the Schools of Santiago, Jabonga, Las Nieves, Nasipit, Buenavista and other municipalities of Agusan del Norte served as the participants during the training.

This is in line with an aim of providing skills on beads and accessories-making for IP professionals of Agusan del Norte. With its specific objectives on promoting among IP professionals, the deeper understanding of cultural expressions of the ancestors through the designs and visual arts, preserve the art and skills in beads/accessories-making passed on by the ancestors to the present generations to the next generations to come. Along with acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be taught and transfer to the IP learners in public schools under the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) program.

Said training is in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) through its IPEd Program in support to the IPs and Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC).
