Youth assist Farmers during DFP 101 training in SurSur

SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur-The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 successfully conducted the two-day training on Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 101 Batch 2 in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on June 15-16, 2021. This is in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of San Agustin in Surigao del Sur.

The said training was participated by 20 participants comprising farmers and youths. It aimed at encouraging farmers to utilize their smartphones as well as accessing the internet which was delivered by Ginalyn Arbutante, Information Officer II in the morning session.

On the other hand, Fil Victor Babanto, Information Officer III introduced the different agricultural applications and social media marketing on the first day afternoon session.
On the second day, Babanto taught participants how to edit and package a video promoting their own agricultural products.

Moreover, Genalyn Campos, Municipal Agriculturist (MA) facilitated in the invitation of participants and other logistical support they exerted together with her staff from the MA office.

MA Campos warmly welcomed everyone during the opening program. She encouraged the participants to listen and participate actively on the activities to be done for this is for their own good particularly to the youth who will assist their partner-farmer.

Indeed, participants were able to apply their knowledge gained through field and hands-on activity such as measuring the fields or area using the smartphone and packaging an advocacy video by pairs or farmer-youth tandem.

“It is my pleasure to be part of this training on Digital Farmers Program 101. I am very much thankful to the Training Management Staff for this. I’ve learned a lot from this training though I had a little difficulty in assisting my partner-farmer who is not so literate in using smartphone. It meant a lot to me after all.” Geomar Avila, youth participant said during the closing program.
