Capacitating LSAs on proposal writing

SUKAILANG, Surigao City - Another batch of LSA Cooperators and AEWs were trained on project proposal writing. The training dubbed as Write Right: Training on Project Proposal Writing was held at JB Nature Farm, Sukailang, Surigao City on May 26-28, 2021. The 16 participants were composed of nine AEWs and seven LSA cooperators and farmer-leader from Surigao del Norte and Butuan City.

The said training aimed to equip the AEWs in proposal writing so that they can help the farmers avail the various credit programs and financing interventions of the government since most of these require the submission of project proposals.

In her message, Provincial Agriculturist Ruby Ann S. Lagahit said that the training is very timely because most of the government interventions are proposal-based. She added that in formulating a proposal, one must ensure the availability and reliability of the data. Mary Jane Gonzaga, DMO I and Project Officer of the training, presented the training overview and rationale.

Miraluz Arong of DA-ACPC presented the Agri-Fishery Programs particularly the Agrinegosyo and Kapital Access for Young Agripreneurs (KAYA). She discussed the loan scheme, features, eligible borrowers and its corresponding documentary requirements. Meanwhile, Gawad Kalinga Foundation Consultant Dr. Victor Emmanuel Ozaragga who served as the Resource Person explained and facilitated the workshop on the basics of project proposal writing particularly farm business planning, formulation of mission and vision, identification of keys to success, formulation of strategies and the preparation of financial reports. He also shared some tips in proposal writing and the elements of a winning proposal.

As a training requirement, the AEW-LSA tandem formulated and presented a project proposal.
