SOA on free range chicken now airing in Surigao del Norte

Ms. Stella Asuncion Sabaldan, Provincial SOA Coordinator served as host during the launching of the SOA program with Fil Victor Babanto as guest on May 21, 2021.

SURIGAO CITY- The School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on Free Range Chicken Production was launched on May 21, 2021 in Surigao del Norte province.

This is in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Surigao del Norte through the Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Life Shiela L. Cubillanes.

The SOA program was hosted by Ms. Stella Asuncion Sabaldan who is also the Provincial SOA Coordinator from the PVO-SDN. Aired at DXSN Radio Magbalantay station based in Surigao City and livestreaming at ATI Caraga Region Facebook Page. The program will be heard from the radio station and watched via FB Page every Friday at 5:00 o’clock -6:00 o’clock in the morning.

The program aimed at intensifying the promotion of free range chicken production in the province through the use of radio and online platform as communication media. The SOA enrollees comprised 600 farmers, Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and students among the different municipalities and city in the said province.

Moreover, the first airing and launching ceremony was attended by Fil Victor Babanto, Information Officer III of ATI-Caraga as guest speaker. He discussed the mechanics of SOA during the program. This will be running for four (4) months with 16 episodes starting May to August this year. Culmination activity is expected to take place in September, 2021.

On behalf of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13, Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo expressed his profound gratitude to the LGU of Surigao del Norte for the usual support to various programs conducted in the province. He also encouraged listeners and SOA enrollees to keep on learning on the basics of chicken production or even apply to their own backyard.
