HVCDP focals train on GAP for Fruits and Vegetables

Lantapan, Bukidnon – The Agricultural Training Institute – Central Office conducted a Refresher Course on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Fruits and Vegetables last May 6-10, 2019 at Binahon Agro-Forestry Farm.

The training aimed to capacitate the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) focal persons and Regulatory Division personnel of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Offices and ATI – Regional Training Centers on the updates of the Philippine National Standards (PNS) on Fruits and Vegetables, its guidelines and procedures. They were also informed on the changes of the Secretariat and signatories of GAP certification.

As part of the training, the participants conducted a mock inspection at Alomah’s Place where they role-played GAP inspectors. Alomah’s Place is a GAP certified farm and Learning Site and School for Practical Agriculture of ATI-RTC 10 located in Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich.

Dr. Rodel Maghirang from the University of the Philippines – Los Baños together with two Key Persons from the Bureau of Plant Industry were the Resource Persons during the training.

Engr. Joel M. Laure of ATI and Janet M. Pasayon of DA represented Caraga region.
