SOA on Swine, now on its 3rd week

Launching and first airing of the SOA program on Swine Production in a radio station in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte with Anchorman Raul Cornites and guests Provincial Veterinarian Belen Aruelo and ATI-Caraga staff Mary Grace Salve.

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte – The School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on Swine Production is now on its 3rd official airing over Kuya Mark Broadcasting Corporation - Mark FM 101.5. The SOA is conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 in coordination with the Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Provincial Veterinarian Belen M. Aruelo.

The SOA is anchored by Raul C. Cornites, Agriculturist II of the Provincial Veterinary Office – Agusan del Norte.

The SOA aims to address the problems and information needs on swine production through the use of radio. It covers the whole province of Agusan del Norte with 618 enrollees composed of farmers, animal raisers, Agricultural Extension Workers and other stakeholders.

“We believe that radio is an effective medium in promoting basic and appropriate information and technologies on swine raising. This is a timely endeavor knowing that swine production is a popular enterprise to increase family income,” says Dr. Aruelo during the program launching/first official airing last May 17, 2019.

The SOA will cover the following topics: Potentials of Swine Production; Status and Inventory of Swine Raising in the Philippines; Breeds of Swine and their characteristics; Breeding methods; Housing and management; and, Feeds and Feeding. Topics on health management practices will also be discussed.

The program will be heard for 16 Fridays at 5:00 – 6:00 in the morning over Mark FM.
