SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI –RTC) 13 facilitated the conduct of a three-day training on Organic Agriculture Production Technologies at Alameda Farm, Gata, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on May 8-10, 2019.

Said training was participated by 29 participants composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur and Agusan del Norte.

Various speakers were present during the activity with their respective topics assigned. Prevailing laws and principles on Organic Agriculture was discussed by Mr. Rodulfo Domingo Jr., Agriculturist II of the Department of
Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 13. In his talk, he shared his experiences from the trainings he attended both national and international.

On the other hand, Ms. Rosemarie M. Ganate, Provincial OA Coordinator from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Surigao del Sur (OPAg-SDS) imparted her actual knowledge and experience in applying the
Nature Farming Technology System (NFTS) in her own rice farming. She thoroughly discussed the materials needed and procedures for the production of Indigenous Micro-Organisms (IMO), Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ), Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), Herbal Oriented Nutrients (OH) and Fish/Kuhol Amino Acid (FAA/KAA).

Another speaker Ms. Jhoanna Garcia shared her applied knowledge on the Jadam Technology. According to her, the said technology is an ultra-low cost, easy to make and environment-friendly. In her demonstration to adopt such technology, she introduced the materials needed and procedures in the production of Jadam solutions like Jadam Microbial Solution (JMS), Jadam Liquid Fertilizer (JLF), Jadam Wetting Agent (JWA), Jadam Herbal Solution (JHS) and Jadam Sulfur (JS). Lastly, she demonstrated on how to make the JWA and JS.

This training served as an avenue in capacitating further the skills of AEWs for quality extension services.
