ATI staff joins Rice Specialists Training Course in PhilRice-Agusan

Matt Janfour Cabahug, Technical Support Staff of ATI-Caraga, presented his topic on PalayCheck 4 during the micro-teaching activity on May 4, 2021 in PhilRice Agusan, RTR, Agusan del Norte. He joined 24 others from DA, LGUs, and private farms as requirement in the Rice Specialists Training Course which will wrap up next month.

Remedios T. Romualdez, Agusan del Norte - Matt Janfour Cabahug, Technical Support Staff of ATI-Caraga, joins the months-long Rice Specialists Training Course (RSTC) held in PhilRice-Agusan Experimental Station, RTR, Agusan del Norte. The course started last February and is expected to end on June 2021. Last May 4, 2021, all participants underwent one of the most grueling part of the training which was the micro-teaching activity.

The RSTC aims to produce a new breed of rice specialists to assist farmers to become competitive and shall be at the forefront in the implementation of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program (RCEF) at the grassroots level. It focuses not only in harnessing the technical competencies of the trainees but also provide the necessary arsenal in facing the challenges of a more complex agricultural environment.

Aside from the lecture discussions, field assessments, and farm visits, they were also trained on how to become effective communicators through the micro-teaching activity. This is a mock presentation where a panel of judges will critique their communication skills, visual presentation, and mastery of their assigned topic.

There are twenty-five participants in the RSTC composed of technical personnel from the Department of Agriculture, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA).
