ATI 13’s Team Indigenous benchmarks strawberry and herbs farm

SITIO TAGKILING, ANTICALA, Butuan City- Striving to highlight the Team Indigenous garden with its unique way of showcasing crops and vegetables in the urban setting, members of the said group visited Robrosa’s Strawberry and Herbs Farm on March 5, 2021.

Together, the team learned some techniques on soil media preparation, factors to consider on the establishment of a strawberry greenhouse, proper handling of strawberry runners, and management of pests and diseases. Through this, the group gained insights on establishing their garden.

The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII continues to promote the practice of urban gardening in the community households as part of coping up with the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change adaptation. It was for this reason that the Center strategized and grouped the staff to showcase different practices in urban gardening.

The groups were: indigenous, container gardening, vertical gardening, and modern agriculture.
