LOS ANGELES, Butuan City-To accelerate the promotion and installation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for vegetables in Caraga region, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 is currently holding a three-day training course on GAP for Vegetable Production starting May 15, 2019.

The training aims to enhance and update the knowledge, attitude and skills of the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and Farmer-Leaders on GAP for vegetable production. This is also to further develop their strategic recommendations and implement coaching activities to address challenges in sustainable vegetable production in their respective areas.

There are thirty (30) participants comprising AEWs who are vegetable coordinators and Farmer-leaders join in the said training.

There will be discussions on the status of the vegetable industry in the region as well as the explanation on the role of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached agencies and bureaus on the implementation of the Food Safety Act.

Principles and elements of GAP vegetables will also be taught to the participants together with the different cultural management practices in vegetable production. GAP certification processes and procedures will also be included in the module.

Said training which is recently held the ATI-Training Hall, Los Angeles, Butuan City is expected to culminate on May 17, 2019, with Ag. II Joel Laure as the Project Officer (with report from Joel Laure).
