Free range chicken production
BUTUAN CITY- The Training of Trainers (TOT) on Free range chicken production will be conducted this coming April 22-26, 2019 right here at the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13, Los Angeles, Butuan City. This is funded under the National Livestock Program (NLP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
This is in support to the promotion of the government programs in producing healthy food.
It aims to create a pool of trainers who will be capacitated in conducting a season-long training on farmers’ level. This training will be of great help in creating pool of trainers that are technically able to conduct Farmer Poultry School (FPS).
Participants of this TOT will involve thirty (30) Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from the five provinces in Region 13.
Topics will include the prospects of free-range chicken industry in the Philippines, free-range chicken production technologies and practices along with its recording system. Adult learning and facilitation skills will also be included in the course.
Part of their output is the preparation of a weekly schedule of activities for the FPS as well as their individual action plan.
According to the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), chicken is ranked 3rd agricultural commodity of the Philippines in 2016. On the other hand, the Philippines imported 114.9 Metric Tons of chicken meat on the same month last year.
