SURIGAO CITY- The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Surigao del Norte through the Provincial Veterinary Office will be hosting a School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program on Free Range Chicken Production starting May this year.

This was highlighted during the coordination meeting conducted with the presence of Provincial Veterinarian Life Shiela L. Cubillanes and Provincial SOA Coordinator and Farmcaster Ma. Stella Asuncion Sabaldan on March 12, 2021.

Staff from the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 headed by Fil Victor Babanto, Chief of the Information Services Section visited PVO in Surigao City and conferred with PV Cubillanes on the implementation of SOA on Free range chicken production. Babanto presented the overview of the program along with the roles and responsibilities of the province. In here, PV Cubillanes assured her active support to the said SOA program and agreed to take the next steps in conducting a briefing on April 13, 2021.

Moreover, Sabaldan will be the possible Anchorwoman that will be on board during the airing of the program. There will be 400 target enrollees as participants during its implementation phase comprising poultry raisers, students and other stakeholders in Surigao del Norte.

The SOA program will run for four months airing 16 episodes focusing the lessons on free range chicken production.

This program is funded under the Livestock Program of the ATI-RTC 13.
