Effective communication skills, key in enhancing ATI’s image

DILIMAN, Quezon City – Communication is said to be the heart of every organization. The ability to communicate accurately and clearly is a vital skill that employees must possess. Answering to this need, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently conducted the Writing and Communication Workshop - Batch 1 on March 19 – 21, 2019 at the Rural Development Education Center, ATI Compound.

In his message, Engr. Renato B. Dela Cruz, Chief of Partnership and Accreditation Division stressed that effective written and communication skills reflect the organization thus sensitivity and consistency should be maintained by each member of the Institute. He also commended the efforts of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) headed by Ms. Evelyn D. Soriano, Administrative Officer IV/OIC Head-HRMO in strengthening the capability and competency of the employees.

“In carrying out the extension services of ATI, we communicate,” says Ms. Antonieta J. Arceo, Chief of the Information Services Division/Resource Person. Ms. Arceo discussed the basic steps in writing as well as the principles of clear and effective writing. She emphasized the need to be precise and consistent in writing correspondence, minutes, and other reports to improve the image and maintain corporate identity of ATI. Mr. Karl Louise M. Salibio, Information Officer II shared some important tips in preparing audio visual aids through Powerpoint. He discussed the features and advantages of using Powerpoint as presentation material.

The trainees were exposed to individual and group learning exercises such as writing letters, minutes of meeting, activity highlights, Powerpoint presentation and delivery.

Ms. Elena Madelo, Administrative Aide VI and Ms. Mary Grace B. Salve, Media Production Specialist II both from the ATI-Regional Training Center (RTC) 13 were among the 30 participants from the ATI-RTCs and Central Office who completed the workshop.
