Mr. Binahon, owner of BAFF tours ATI staff around his farm on March 23, 2019.

With the aim of building the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)-Caraga team and to have a strong bonding within the group, the top management held a capability enhancement and staff development on March 22-24, 2019.

The group stop over at Binahon Agro-Forestry Farm (BAFF) in Brgy. Songco, Lantapan, Bukidnon. Owned by Mr. Henry S. Binahon. His farm is known in producing cacao, coffee and bamboo seedlings as well as plants, herbs and ornamentals. The BAFF was also recognized for their organic vegetables.

“Seedlings today will be trees tomorrow and trees will sustain our future” is one the quotes that can be seen at the farm’s entrance. It truly reflects the love of Mr. Binahon in conserving our forest and environment for the whole humanity.

Mr. Binahon is a Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) of the ATI-RTC 10 and a National President of the said Association that is manned by the ATI.

“Take care the trees and leave them for the environment, take care the plants for they have their own purpose”, Binahon reminded staff during a short briefing before the farm tour in the first day.

ATI staff were able to witness the beauty of nature through the BAFF’s landscape and overlooking scenery. They were able to listen Binahon’s experiences and farming techniques as well as new technologies applied in the farm.

The team also visited Alomah’s Place in Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon which is also known in producing fresh organic vegetables, herbs and spices.

“Walk the talk and talk the walk”. Being part of the DA’s extension arm, ATI staff were exposed in various Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSAs) for effective integration of those learning experiences at work. It is by sharing, promoting and communicating to farmers and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) the importance of farming, latest farm technologies and safest ways to produce food.

This activity was proposed to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff, promote effectiveness in service, foster camaraderie and strengthen teamwork within the organization. With OIC-Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo as Lead.
