LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – Twenty Organic Agriculture (OA) coordinators will undergo the Training on Biodynamic Farming on April 21-23, 2021 to be held at the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
According to Elena Madelo, ATI point person of the OA program, the general objective of the training is for the participants to acquire essential knowledge and skills in biodynamic farming. Specifically, it aims to discuss the updates on Philippine National Standard on OA, gain an appreciation of biodynamic farming, discuss the important components of biodynamic farming, discuss the planting calendars, and demonstrate the different biodynamic preparation.
Due to man-made activities that threaten the environment and agriculture, biodynamic farming seeks to find alternatives that focus on the use of available and renewable sources of plant nutrition for sustainable agricultural production by integrating crops and livestock, recycling nutrients, maintaining soil and well-being of crops and animals.
The training, which will be attended by agricultural extension workers coming from different parts of the region, will undergo not only lecture-discussions but also workshops and demonstrations. Dr. Rex Linao, FDAI Executive Director, will act as a resource person during the three-day live-in training.
