More than 70 participants attend Bugtok Disease Eradication Seminar

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City- The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 once again conducted a Free Seminar on Bugtok Disease Eradication on March 11, 2019.

Stem and mat sanitation, deleafing, desuckering, early debudding and bagging. These are the control measures in preventing bugtok disease in banana.

Said topic was delivered by the HVCDP Focal person, Engr. Joel Laure in the afternoon session.

More than 70 participants showed their interest of gaining knowledge on bugtok disease prevention and wanted to have an actual demonstration on its control measures.

Participants comprised students, teachers, farmers, agricultural extension workers (AEWs), private employees and other stakeholders.

Lecture and actual demonstration was led by Engr. Joel Laure, HVCDP Focal Person along with the farm workers.

They were able to witness how to stem and mat sanitize, desucker, deleaf, debud and even bagging during the farm demonstration at the ATI-FFARMS. Mr. Jerry Dela Pena, ATI Farmworker assisted participants and demonstrated to them on the how tos.

In his closing message, Senior Agriculturist Heracleo Paler encouraged participants to continue learning not only on banana but along with the other crops. He informed everyone about the e-Learning course on Banana Production and its management that they can enroll on it anytime at any place.

“We hope that what you have learned will not just end here, keep on learning.” Paler added.

“Goodbye Bugtok, Kwarta Pasok”, such a catchy slogan that inspire participants to know more about banana disease management beyond expectation.

The said seminar on Bugtok Disease Eradication was held at the ATI-Caraga based at Los Angeles, Butuan City, 1-5 o’clock in the afternoon.
