Caraga holds women summit

Learning Session: National Agencies present their topic related to rights and privileges of women during the summit on March 8, 2019.

BUTUAN CITY- In celebration of the International Women’s Month, the Regional Development Council-Regional Gender and Development Committee (RDC-RGADC) hosted a “Women Summit on March 8, 2019. With a theme ‘Make Change Work for Women’.

The said summit highlights on the rights and privileges of women through learning sessions such as discussion on Republic Act (RA) 9710, Franchising, and Empowering Women through Knowledge on Government’s Services.

This was participated with the National Government Agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region.

“A balance world is a better world”, Atty. Jerefe Bacang emphasized as she warmly welcomed participants during the opening program.

Moreover, the 2019 successful women entrepreneurs in Caraga were also recognized during the summit. Ms. Luxmi B. Auxillo from Agusan del Norte, Ms. Ervian R. Sotis from Agusan del Sur, Ms. Rosanna J. Lisbos from Surigao del Norte, Ms. Hazel G. Pasok from Surigao del Sur and Ms. Carmelita B. Rubia from the Province of Dinagat Islands.

Simultaneous events were held such as Trade Fair by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

On the other hand, Exhibits of Services were also conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Department of Agriculture (DA) Line Agencies and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). This was also joined by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), (DTI), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

In addition, the Department of Justice (DOJ), Public Attorneys’ Office (PAO), Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) also offered their legal services.

There also the Beauty Care corner (manicure, pedicure, facial, massage) that was hosted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

ATI-Caraga staff joined in the said summit which was held at Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City.
