ELLIPTICAL ROAD, Diliman, Quezon City – the Digital Farmers Program (DFP) is a project between the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and SMART Communications, Inc. which consist of a ladderized approach in teaching small-scale farmers nationwide with basic digital tools and technologies.
Some objectives of DFP is to tap the youth in teaching farmers the basic operations of the smartphone allowing participants to maximize the use of digital applications for their farms and develop a video showcasing different agriculture-related information or farming practices.
In 2019, a series of its first phase of DFP 101 trainings was implemented, capacitating over 400 farmers and youth participants in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga region. For this year, around 60 batches of DFP 101 are set to be rolled out nationwide with the help of the Institute's network of training centers and SMART local sales teams.
The activity will serve as an avenue to co-create with Smart Communications Public Affairs a DFP 101 Training Toolkit that will guide the ATI-RTC representatives, as well as Smart local teams, in the regional training rollouts. Specifically, the activity aims to gather feedback and inputs from the RTCs on the existing course design of DFP 101, finalize the DFP 101 training module. It also aims to brainstorm on the course design for DFP 102 and co-create and co-design a monitoring and evaluation frameworks, processes, and tools for the successful implementation and impact evaluation of the program.
The said training workshop was conducted last February 17-20, 2020 at ATI-Central Office Mess Hall.
