ATI-Caraga links with the National Communicators

PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar presented "Raising the bar of governance" on the plenary session during the National Information Convention held in SMX Convention, SM Lanang, Davao City on February 20, 2018

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City-The Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13 participated in the National Information Convention (NIC) held in Davao City on February 19-21, 2018.
Ms. Ginalyn V. Arbutante, Information Officer II represented the institute. This is through the continued linkage with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) along with the other media.

The NIC aims to gather government communicators, members of the national and regional media, communications and technology industries leaders, and members of the academe to discuss ways to empower communities through development communication.

The 3-day event was filled with plenary and breakout sessions, open forums and exhibits in relation to communication and information awareness. With the theme “Spurring development and empowering communities through information”.

Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) said that one of their plans is to establish a Government Information Center (GIC) in the Local Government Units (LGUs). This is for easy access of information by the Filipino people specifically to the rural areas.

According to him, the essence of your communication is in the truth-telling of your reports.

He reminds information officers to stay alert to avoid misinterpretation of information. “Let us wage war against disinformation, misinformation and fake news, let us advocate for a well-informed citizenry”, Andanar added.

Through the NIC, participants understand how the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte has been communicating its key policy initiative.

Ended, this was held to strengthen partnership between private and public-sector communicators, with the goal of nurturing a well-informed and enlightened citizenry.
