BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga State University (CSU) and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) partnered in assisting qualified agriculture trainees to participate in the Scandinavian Traineeship Program in Denmark.

Among the 35 applicants who satisfactorily completed their requirements, 10 were endorsed by ATI Director Alfredo S. Aton who left the country last February 11, 2021 to commence the 12-month traineeship experience in host farms. The next batch is expected to follow within this month.

Prior to this, a virtual meeting with the Scandinavian Program Coordinator, representatives from the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and ATI were held last February 3, 2021 to discuss final arrangements, health protocol requirements of the trainees, and agreements for future traineeship batches.

Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo of ATI Regional Training Center 13 said that this program is in line with ATI’s endeavor of influencing more young Filipino youth to engage in farming. The CSU Program Coordinator Dr. Rosalinda Sagocsoc attested that it will be a great opportunity for the trainees to gain practical knowledge and skills in specific fields in agriculture particularly in swine, poultry, and dairy production.

The CSU being the trainees’ sponsoring SUC has been ATI’s partner in the institutionalization of e-learning programs in the agriculture curriculum and in promoting agricultural development as a whole.
