LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - As world’s climate is changing fast, change will also be significant for agriculture, as the former poses new risks to food and farming. For this reason, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center XIII (ATI-Caraga) conducts the Training of Trainers(TOT) on Climate Resilience Farm Business School (CRFBS) from February 5-14, 2018 at ATI’s training complex located in Los Angeles, Butuan City.

This training is participated in by 31 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from different municipalities of Caraga region. According to Violeta T. Laguna, Training Specialist II of ATI-Caraga and Project Officer of the said activity, the CRFBS training capacitates AEWs to be able to help farmers and other stakeholders acquire more knowledge and skills that will make their farms more profitable in the face of climate and economic-related challenges and will primarily heed towards the creation of new ways of upgrading farmers’ awareness, understanding and learning.

The 10-day training is chunked into six modules, to wit: (Module 1) Opportunities in the Implementation of Asean Economic Community (AEC), (Module 2) Understanding Climate as a Risk, (Module 3) Climate-Smart Agriculture, (Module 4) Farming as a Business, (Module 5) Good Agriculture Practices Certification and (Module 6) Transformational Leadership.

To enhance learning, participants undergo lectures, participatory group discussions, open forum, case work, farm visit and other outdoor activities.
