Advocacy Walk, other activities mark ATI@34

Staff of ATI Caraga bustled up early to participate in the Advocacy Walk where they will walk toward two barangays in Butuan City (Sumilihon & Los Angeles) to turn-over gardening kits.

LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) highlighted its years of dedication in empowering farmers, fishers, and extension workers through selfless extension service during its 34th-anniversary celebration last January 29, 2021.

In Caraga Region, ATI-RTC 13 lined up several activities to mark the importance of the said occasion. On the eve of January 28, 2021, the employees had dinner and stayed overnight in the dormitory in preparation for the dawn activity the next day.

At 5:00 am on January 29, the celebration started with a Zumba dance to energize the staff. This was followed shortly with the Advocacy Walk to promote DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program. The staff marched toward Barangays Sumilihon and Los Angeles to meet the Barangay Council and turn-over seeds and gardening tools for their communal vegetable garden.

A holy mass was also held as thanksgiving for the 34 fruitful years of the agency. It was officiated by Fr. Joseph Borja. The lunch break was preceded by the Awarding Ceremony of loyalty awardees and oath-taking of newly-hired personnel. Hermis Sañez, Anastacio Correa, and Noel Cuenza became recipients of the said awards. Meanwhile, Kit Paul Paler took his oath as the new Network Controller of ATI Caraga.

In the afternoon, a field day took place where the staff harvested Tilapia, carp, mushroom, eggs, banana and other farm products.

Center Director Samuel Calonzo thanked the staff for their support and hard work which were vital to the success of his leadership and of the organization.

This year, the nationwide and simultaneous celebration revolved around the theme: “ATI@34 LEADS in Mobilizing & Empowering Partners & Communities Towards One DA.
