LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – Ten staff of the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 13 underwent a two-day “Training on Live streaming to enhance Remote Learning” from January 14-15, 2021 at the Golden Tara Hall, Los Angeles, Butuan City. The purpose of the training was to capacitate and enhance knowledge of selected ATI-RTC 13 staff to produce high-quality live streaming videos using state-of-art equipment. This initiative was brought about by the shift in the mode of communication from face-to-face to the online platform due to the pandemic.
Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo, during his opening statement, challenged his staff to treasure and maximize the skill they will gain from the training because the pandemic has somewhat changed the way extension is being delivered to clients. Fil Victor Babanto, Information Officer III and Chief of the Information Services Section (ISS) thanked the directorate, participants, speaker, and ATI Central Office for making the training possible.
Clint Cañete of the Northern Mindanao Broadcasting System (NMBS) acted as a resource speaker. Among the topics he discussed were: introduction on the live stream, setting up the computer, familiarization with the software interface, and setting up the camera and audio setup. To improve understanding of the complex skill being conveyed, participants were required to demonstrate how to set up the equipment and how to do actual live streaming via Facebook.
Live streaming is a useful technology for distance learning. Video allows for real-time interaction and a “classroom-like” feel. It can be used during virtual meetings and webinars which have been normalcy ever since the onset of the pandemic early last year.
The participants included six staff from the ISS, two from the administrative unit, and one each from the Career Development Management Services Section (CDMSS), Partnerships and Accreditation Services Section (PASS), and Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit (PMEU).
