SDSSU, ATI’s partner in extension services

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur- The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI-RTC) 13 through the Information Services Section (ISS) continue on doing its mandate in delivering quality extension services to the farmers, fishers and other stakeholders.

This year, the Techno-Gabay Program (TGP) is on its way to incessantly extend more and more services to farmers and fishers beyond boundaries.
Dr. Baceledes R. Estal, expresses his full support to the program by being a partner agency (PA) of the Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) centers in Surigao del Sur.
Dr. Estal is the president in one of the leading state universities in Region 13, the Surigao Del Sur State University (SDSSU)-Main Campus located in Tandag City.

Just recently, ATI Caraga staff held a courtesy call to President Estal’s office at SDSSU- Tandag City on January 10, 2018. This is with regards to the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Techno Gabay Program (TGP) pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 801.

The executive order 801 titled “Encouraging Local Government Units (LGUs) to adopt the Techno Gabay in their agricultural extension programs and the concerned, government agencies to provide the required assistance for the purpose”.

During the conversation, Mr. Fil Victor A. Babanto, Information Officer II of ATI, highlights the duties and responsibilities of the partner agencies in the establishment of the FITS Centers in the locality.
On the other hand, Dr. Estal plans to establish their own FITS center right in the campus so that farmers and students specifically their sons and daughters, can now access agricultural information right at their doorstep. In this way, more citizen-customers will be equipped with updated farming technologies. On behalf of SDSSU administration, Estal assured unceasing support to the TGP implementation in the province.

The Techno-Gabay program provides a framework for more effective and sustainable strategy for bringing the needed information and technologies to the countryside. It also provides information and technology services in agriculture, fishery, forestry and natural resources via an effective mechanism. As such, it strengthens the link among the technology generators, technology servers and technology adopters.
