Realizing the importance of continuous learning amid the global health crisis the country is facing today, a webinar series on urban agriculture via “AgriStoryahay sa ATI” debuted on April 24, 2020. The production of the said series was in response to the covid-19 pandemic which has restricted ATI’s conduct of face-to-face trainings.
Now on its third episode, the webinar series as shown at the ATI Northern Mindanao Facebook Page will air at 10:00 AM on Friday May 8, 2020. Engaging on urban agriculture will assure food availability in the home and could also be an added income in these trying times. Planting one’s own vegetables assure the family that the produce is safe and organically grown, thereby making it healthy and safe for family consumption.
For this episode, Mr. Henry S. Binahon (pictured) of the Binahon Agroforestry Farm (BAFF) as the resource person will discuss Preparation and Application of Biofertilizers, Preparation and Appplication of Biopesticides as well as Food Waste Management (Composting).
Mr. Binahon is an award-winning farmer and is a celebrated speaker with recognition and credentials granted by LGU-Lantapan, DOST, PCAARRD, CMU, NGO’s and other agencies. For two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014, he was awarded by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as the Best Magsasakang Siyentista (MS) in Region X. He continues to promote sustainable agriculture through agroforestry system and help other communities, specially the youth by engaging them in agribusiness.
Later on its succeeding episodes, more technologies will focus on vegetable production including cooking and processing tips. Other certified Learning Site (LS) owners and farms will be featured as well.
