30 Farmers Receive Piglets under ATI-NLP and City Vet Partnership

Some of the beneficiaries who received their piglets

A total of 30 farmers from different barangays of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon received one piglet each from the City Veterinary Office. The piglets were part of the AI (Artificial Insemination) sa Barangay Program wherein the City Veterinary Office is one of its recipients.
The AI sa Barangay is a program of of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the National Livestock Program (NLP) and ATI- International Training Center on Pig Husbandry where the recipients such as the City Veterinary Office of Malaybalay City were provided with two boars and AI Equipment. Payment for such assistance is in the form of piglets from successfully inseminated sows. The piglet will in turn be given to farmers. The Program aims to promote Artificial Insemination(AI) in the Barangays so that breeds will be upgraded, thereby resulting to higher productivity and consequently, added income for the farmers. The City Veterinary Office also extends technical assistance through Package of Technologies. This program will hopefully increase backyard production of pigs.
More beneficiaries will be awarded with piglets in the coming months. Presently, Bukidnon is ASF-free.
