ATI Celebrates 33 Years of Training and Extension Excellence

EL SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental--- In commemorating its 33rd Founding Anniversary as the training and extension arm of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) celebrated simultaneously at the ATI Central Office in Quezon City and its 16 network of training centers sprawled all over the country. This year’s theme of the celebration is “Vibrant Agri and Fishery Extension Services towards Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita”.

For ATI-RTC X, the celebration transpired on January 29-30, 2020 at Poblacion, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.

The event opened with a motorcade within El Salvador City. This was participated in by all ATI staff and some of its partners. It was followed by an Ecumenical Service and Awarding of 2019 CORNUCOPIA Award, presentation of Plaque of Appreciation to Partner Agencies, presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to Remarkable Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) as well as Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Certificate and Giving of Assistance to Learning Site (LS) partners. A presentation of ATI Loyalty Awardees and ATI Employees’ Performance Awards also transpired. Also, Learning Site (LS) commodities were on display to showcase each farm’s produce and products.

The center’s various partners and stakeholders coming from the agriculture and fishery sectors received recognition for their immeasurable contribution to help improve the sector and also in the Institution’s bid to support the modernization of the country’s agriculture sector as per mandate of DA Secretary William D. Dar.

This is coupled with the deliverables of training support and extension services of the center to produce competent AEWs or technicians, engage the youth of today in agriculture and establish more Learning Site partners nationwide.

The highlight of the morning activity was the cover reveal of its soon to be launched success story books BAHANDI: NextGen Edition, BAHANDI: BAE Edition (or Batang Agricultural Extensionists) and GRIT: Chronicling the Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) Project Farmer Beneficiaries of Kiabo, Malitbog, Bukidnon.

Meanwhile, a Poster Making Contest (for Elementary and High School levels), Quiz Bee and e-Learning Orientation took place in the afternoon.

A Free Seminar on Urban Gardening for e-Learners was slated on the third day January 30. Urban gardening is the process of growing plants of all types and varieties in an urban environment. Urban gardening, which is also known as urban horticulture or urban agriculture, encompasses several unique gardening concepts.
