Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte---The need to educate the goat farmers on the improved technology on goat management system as well as to improve their production and meet their respective clients prompted the center to mount the Season-Long Farmer Livestock School on Halal Goat Production.

Goat production is a promising venture which is slowly gaining favor among investors because of its high demand from the consumers. Goats are also popular among livestock raisers since it requires low investment, multiplies fast and can fit to small farm conditions.

The season-long training was intended for the participants to enhance and apply their knowledge and skills on meat and dairy goat production incorporating Halal practices. Halal is the Arabic word for “lawful” or “permitted”. It is a broad term covering what is allowed in the context of Islamic law, but is often used in conjunction with the issue of how meat is dealt with.

The graduation ceremony was facilitated by project officer Noriel Kris O. Santillan which was followed later by the distribution of 20 heads of goats as the center’s livelihood assistance in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte on October 29, 2019. (with reports from Noriel Kris O.
