The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) staged an e-Learning Program Briefing for the faculty and staff of Aquino Integrated School (AIS). It was attended by 22 faculty from the Elementary and High School department of the school.
ATI-RTC X being the lead agency for e-Extension has been scouting partner schools in the region to widen the implementation of the e-extension program. e-Extension is one of the strategies of ATI to reach more clients in agriculture anytime, at any place and at their own pace.
Likewise, it also supports the agency’s advocacy on encouraging the youth to go into agriculture.
“agriculture is a dying industry. The average age of the farmers at present is 60 years old,” said Ms. Noemi Beth Macario, OIC- Assistant Center Director, and the Resource Speaker of the activity.
“Let us help in changing the trend and bring back the youth in agriculture for a more sustainable workforce in agriculture,” she added. Ms. Macario encouraged the participants to be instrumental in achieving the said advocacy. She emphasized the importance of the school as shaping ground of children.
The activity was a request of AIS in coordination with LGU-Plaridel, Misamis Occidental. It was held at AIS, Unidos, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental on August 6, 2019.
