Building climate-ready communities, and climate –resilient agricultural sector are just two of the advocacies of the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) in mainstreaming climate change to its programs and services in the region 10.
ATI-RTC X conducted an Information Caravan on Climate change in support to its climate action advocacies in region . The one-day activity was joined by 130 participants composed of farmers and fishers, students and faculty of Tubod Colleges, and representatives from the Local Government Unit of Tubod .
The Caravan focused on informing the public on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaption techniques as applied in agricultural communities and introduced sustainable, safe and climate resilient agricultural technologies, practices and innovation, such as organic farming.
“ Now is the time to change, embrace climate resilient technologies like Organic Agriculture,” said Ms. Virgie Cabrera, Municipal Agriculturist and the Resource Speaker of the activity.
Ms. Cabrera further cited some calamities Tubod like the floods in numerous barangays in municipalities in the recent years, and urged everybody to act, and take part in this global call to fight climate change.
Northern Mindanao is one of the directly affected provinces in the country as El Nino came fullblown hits the country in first semester of 2019 disrupting the cropping season, delaying food production and incomes to rural household. Tubod is one of the affected municipalities in Lanao del Norte.
The activity was held at Tubod Gym, Poblacion, Tubod, Lanao del Norte on July 30, 2019.
