Plaridel,MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL-- Empowering rice farming communities to be globally competitive through producing climate-ready and profitable farms, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) conducted a 10-day Training of Trainers on Climate Resilience Farm Business School (CRFBS).

CRFBS is the innovative strategies of ATI to mainstream climate-resilient agriculture technologies to its Agriculture and Fisheries programs as the core bureau for Training and Extension of the Department Of Agriculture.

The training was joined by twenty-eight (28) participants from the different municipalities of Misamis Occidental, to wit: Sinacaban, Pananao, Clarin, Oroquieta City, Tudela, Jimenez, Lopez Jaena, Aloran, Bonifacio, Calamba, and Plaridel. Most of the participants are newly hired Agriculture Extensionist.

The 10-day training aims to create a pool of trainers to help capacitate farmers to adopt to the challenge of changing the climate to the agricultural sector. Further, it encourages a re-shift of rice farming in the province from production-focused farming to market-oriented farming.

The 10-day training was highlighted by four modules, including Climate- Smart Agriculture, Increasing Opportunities for Rice Farmers, Enhancing Capacities of Trainers, Farm Business School, and Financial Literacy and Stock Market. The training also engaged participants to rice farm technologies in the province through a benchmarking activity. They have also actively participated in a market survey as one of the practicums of the training.
