Celebrating April as Filipino Food Month

Starting this year, every April is Filipino Food Month! This is to celebrate our rich and diverse food fare that makes us truly Filipino.

With that in mind, the Agricultural Training Institute is one with the nation in promoting our native Filipino delicacies as part of the celebration of the National Filipino Food Month (NFFM) or the Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 469, which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on April 13, 2018, the NFFM will be celebrated every April starting this year. Activities will be led by the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement, National Commission of the Culture and the Arts, and the Department of Agriculture.

The celebration aims that our vast culinary tradition and treasures be appreciated, preserved, and promoted to ensure their transmission to future generations and to support various industries, farmers, and agri-communities.

With the theme “Ang Sarap! Piyesta ng Pagkaing Pilipino”, the NFFM was recently launched at the Manila Hotel. The month-long celebration will feature a variety of events and activities to establish the celebration of rich and diverse culinary tradition and treasures of the Philippines and foster the dynamic evolution of Filipino culinary arts.
