Recognizing the importance of Farmers Information Technology Services (FITS) Centers as partners of the Institute in extension in the region—the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) established three more FITS Centers in November 2018.
The newly established FITS are FITS- Valencia City and FITS Damulog in the province of Bukidnon, and FITS Maigo in Lanao del Norte this year. ICT equipment such as LED Flat screen TV, printer, laptop, desktop, LCD projector and other equipment worth Php 100,000.00 were distributed to the new FITS. These were agreed and identified as the much needed equipment in performing their function as FITS center during the pre-orientation for FITS applicants on May 24, 2018.
FITS Centers serve as an information hub of farmers in the municipal level. FITS provide updated knowledge products in agriculture and fisheries in various forms such as brochures, leaflets, video materials, and others. Also, it provides technical expert through its Magsasaka Sisyentista that could provide consultation services on their field of expertise.
The new FITS were funded under the Tier II program. There are 18 more LGUs for FITS establishment in 2019 under the same program.
As of 2018, there are 49 active FITS Centers all over the region. ATI region 10 aims to establish FITS Center in all municipalities in the region.
