Organic Free-Range Chicken Prod Pushed to Cater Increasing Market Demand

BACOLOD, Lanao del Norte—The need to cater to organic free-range chicken in the market and health conscious customers is on the rise. To meet the increasing demands of the market and customers alike, a three-day Training on Organic Free-Range Chicken Production was conducted recently at Queensland Herbs & Tourism Farm at P-2 Demologan, Bacolod, Lanao del Norte.

Mounted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) through Organic Agriculture (OA) Focal Person Javier A. Andalan, the said training intends to capacitate the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), farmers and producers for the increasing demand of organically grown chicken.

The training was conducted in coordination with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PAO). It was intended to enhance the learning and knowledge of the participants where poultry project planning and costing, actual computation of feed formulation, and hands-on exercise on proper feed mixing were demonstrated based on the locally available materials.

A total of 30 participants attended the said training which is composed of AEWs, farmers, producers including the beneficiaries of ATI-RTC X's "Back to Basics” Project from Bacolod, Lanao del Norte. (with reports from Javier P. Andalan, Agriculturist II)
