IMPASUG-ONG, Bukidnon─ The move towards development of more productive sloping corn areas in Bukidnon never stops as the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X ( ATI-RTC X) conducted another batch of its Training on Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas ( SCOPSA) in the province.

The training was joined and participated by 31 participants composed of Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs), and corn farmers from the different barangays of Impasug-ong, the host municipality of the training.

It aims to promote awareness and accelerate adoption of the technology to the farmers from the different parts of the province, including Impasug-ong. It also intends to sustain and improve knowledgeable pool of SCOPSA trainers in the municipality.

The three days were filled of classroom and on field discussion on the guidelines and protocols of SCOPSA, highlighting land management and conservation technologies and practices suited for farm areas with topography like Bukidnon.

It also includes farm planning and its importance, and even have touched areas on the pros and cons of the intensive use of herbicides to crops, especially corn.

One of the post activities of the training is the establishment of SCOPSA Techno Demo Farms in their respective community. Further, they were required to submit a re-entry plan for the implementation the project.
