AgriDOC Refresher Course with Basic Video Production Held

Cogon, CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY--- With their responsibilities as extension officers, 30 AgriDOC graduates underwent through a refresher course which intends to intensify their vital role as catalysts of farm community transformation specially in the countryside.

The refresher course was mounted by the Career Development and Management Services (CDMS) with Development Management Officer II Jhoylie Mae C. Rosales as Project Officer. The week-long event covered documenting technique via outputs like scripts, storyboards and video of their best farming practices and partner farmers.

The AgRiDOC is part of the main component of the project Improving Technology Promotion and Delivery through capability enhancement of the next generation of rice extension professionals and other intermediaries. It was made possible through the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture - Philippine Rice Research Institute, ATI and the International Rice Research Institute.

As graduates of the AgriDOC training program, the graduates have been made competent in science-based and locally appropriate strategies for managing and adapting rice-based farming systems towards competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience. Being community developers, the graduates have the power to change and to influence people in their community.

The need of the refresher course is for the farmers to be updated of the latest agricultural technologies and the modern but nature-inspired farming practices. These should be imparted to the minds of the farmers so they would embrace change in their daily toil and eventually progress in farming.

The week-long event transpired at the De Luxe Hotel in Cogon, Cagayan de Oro City in May 7-11, 2018.
