Training on Corn-Based Diversified Farming System: Another Breakthrough for the T2ES22PPP Program

IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Impasugong, Bukidnon, in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X, commenced the “Training on Corn-Based Diversified Farming System” under the “Increasing Agricultural Productivity Towards Food Security and Poverty Alleviation: Extension Support to the Twenty Two Provinces Highest Poverty Incidence in the Philippines” (T2-ES22PPP) at their Tourism Center on February 12, 2018. The training will end on February 14, 2018, a fitting Valentines gift of love from the government.
The training was attended by 31 active participants from Barangay Guihean. The Resource Persons are distinguished experts in their fields. Among them are: Mr. Reynaldo Gil Lomarda on Values Formation and Re-Orientation; Ms. Marylou C. Sobradil, Ms. Nida Jacutin, Ns. Dayana L. Padillia and Mr. Ricky S. Tala on the Cultural Practices of Corn; Ms. Ashel G. Uy and Ms. Jocelyn Samiahan for the Vegetable Production Module; Mr. Honradez D. Hernandez and Ms. Cherymae Aguilar, DVM for the Livestock and Poultry Production Module; Ms. Lydia A. Dopenio for the Inland Fishery Production Module; and Ms. Dianne Jane B. Gante for the module on Farming as a Business.
Engr. Roan R. Fernandez, the Municipal Agriculturist of the said municipality, together with his dynamic staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the participants who attended the activity despite the busy work in their own farms.
Hon. Johnny Chavez, the Committee Chair on Agriculture, together with Hon. Ricardo P. Anlicao, the Punong Barangay of Guihean and Mr. Ben Gabriel O. Uy, all emphasized the importance of farm diversification since it produces multiple incomes and therefore, would result to a buffer when a commodity fails.
With the intention of reducing poverty and ensuring food security, the Tier 2 Program of DA-ATI continues to implement trainings within the provinces of Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.
