Baliangao, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL---Focusing on delivering extension initiatives for marginalized groups and target farmer beneficiaries, a Training on Organic Free-Range Chicken Production was organized recently at the D Farm, in Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.
A total of 18 participants attended the said training with which majority of them are Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program beneficiaries.
“Ang akong mga nakat-onan sa pag-atiman ug organic chicken, di kinahanglan nga mogasto ug dako kay ang mga pag-kaon naa ra sa palibot dayon pwede diay di na mogamit ug kuryente. Ang puhunan sa tanan, ang kakugi ra ug determinasyon para mag-malampuson ug molambo” said Lynn L. Manga of Landing, Baliangao during the sharing of learning insights.
The training intended to make the participants practice proper farm management in raising free range chicken, adapt biosecurity measures to counter the effects of common diseases of chicken, and know the basic components in formulating feeds for chicken.
“Ang akong nakat-onan sulod sa 3 days nga seminar nga akong naatenan: sama sa organic nga pamaagi nga kon akoa jod nga buhaton makahatag kini ug dako nga kaayohan, makatabang diay kaayo ug dako sa among panginabuhi, nagpasalamat ako ug dako sa mga tawo nga nag-gahin ug panahon para ani nga programa”, declared Nemesia G. Anhao of Mabini, Baliangao.
During the second day of the training, Regional Technical Director-Carlota S. Madriaga of DA-RFU 10 made an appearance and gave a short message to the participants. Director Madriaga expressed her thanks to ATI-RTC 10 for conducting such trainings to SAAD beneficiaries.
The 18 participants received a chicken net (20meters each) as an extension support and a t-shirt as PPE after the training. (with reports from Javier P. Andalan, Agriculturist II)
