Training on Organic Free-Range Chicken Production Held in MisOcc

She felt she must share such knowledge and skills to the rest of the farmers especially to those who wants to venture in organic free-range chicken production.

Clarin, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL---Aiming to have an ample supply of poultry products and to raise organic free-range chicken in every household in their neighborhood, a Training on Organic Free-Range Chicken Production was held recently in Clarin, Misamis Occidental to counter the effects of the pandemic.

A total of 26 participants attended the training which is composed of Agricultural Extension Workers, (AEWs), Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs), and farmers from Clarin, Don Victoriano and Ozamis City were present in total attendance.

The training, as organized by Agriculturist II Javier P. Andalan intended to make the participants identify the common breeds of chicken suitable in the locality, practice proper farm management in raising free-range chicken, identify the basic components in formulating feeds for chicken, as well as recognize and discuss biosecurity measures and common diseases of chicken.

During the training proper, participants were able to present output showcasing Ethnoveterinary Medicine and engaged in hands-on activity on organic feed formulation with a strict adherence to social distancing and proper health protocols being observed.

“In this seminar, I learned a lot on how to properly raise chicken. Also, I was most interested on the topic where the lecturer discussed different kinds of plants that could be used to help treat chickens. The Jadam or natural farming method also taught us how to raise chicken with low cost”, declared Yedda Sophie D. Ebarle-Mialen during the sharing of learning insights.

SweetHeart M. Al-ag of Don Victoriano, Misamis Occidental also shared that “The knowledge and hands-on training could be my guide when I venture on Organic Free-Range Chicken Production and also when imparting such learning and tips to other farmers. What I learned from this training, I must share these knowledge and skill to our farmers especially to those farmers who wants to venture in organic free-range chicken production.

After the training, all of the participants received a chicken net (20meters each) as an extension support and a t-shirt as PPE.

The said training transpired on July 28-30, 2021 at the Agnes Agriventure Farms, Purok 7, Kinangay Norte, Clarin, Misamis Occidental.
