ATI trains LDN Corn Farmers on Corn-based Farming System

BAROY, Lanao del Norte--- The corn industry has been continuously strengthened especially in major corn-based provinces in the region.

The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X conducted its first batch of Barangay-based Training on GAP Corn-based Farming System at the Farmers Training Center, Bag-ong Dawis, Baroy, Lanao del Norte.

It was participated by 20 corn farmers from the different barangay in Baroy. The activity aims to help farmers be more productive and profitable through training them on Corn-Based Farming System.

The Corn-based Farming System is a farming technology that introduces crop diversification through the integration of crop, aqua, poultry and livestock integration while also maximizing its area.

Also, farmers were taught of the principles of the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) that woud capacitate them to produce safer and healthier farm produce.
Not just productivity, but also sustainability of the farms and the corn farmer’s pocket are the main goal of the technology.

The activity was in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Baroy, Lanao del Norte. It was held on April 28-30 (From the reports of Noriel Kris Santillan)
