2018 WFP Consultation yields New Potential Partnerships in Misamis Occidental

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental - Many of the participants during the Provincial Consultation for Misamis Occidental have signified intent to recommend a number of Learning sites in their Locality. The Consultation was conducted on September 8, 2017 in Tangub City. The activity was attended by 35 stakeholders composed of Municipal/ City Agriculturists (MAs/ CAs), Sanggunian Bayan (SB) Members chairing the Committee on Agriculture, Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) Chair on the Committee on Agriculture and Municipal and City Agriculture and Fisheries Council President (MAFC/CAFC) from various Municipalities and Cities.
A lot of inquiries were made regarding the establishment of Learning Sites. Many of the municipalities have recommended farms which they feel are ready to become a Learning Site or even a Farm Tourism Site. Infact, SB Chairs in Agriculture and the MAFC Presidents have presented their own farms as potential Learning Sites. Dr. Angelito Quirog, Training Center Superintendent II of ATI-RTC X have challenged the participants to lead by example. He said that for them to be credible agriculture development workers, they need to be practitioners. He said that farmers being trainers would make extension delivery faster and with more chances of adoption since it is the farmer teaching a fellow farmer.
On the other hand, participants signified their intent on which training and extension activities for CY 2018 that they will join in. Furthermore, they also submitted the training and extension activities that they need for CY 2019.
Misamis Occidental is composed of 14 municipalities and three component cities, Oroquieta City, Ozamis City and Tangub City.
