Nursery Management and Asexual Propagation Hoisted for AEWs and Nursery Managers

LANTAPAN, BUKIDNON---To address the need to improve nursery management practices in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) conducted a Training on Nursery Management and Asexual Propagation at the Binahon Agroforestry Farm (BAFF) in Bol-ogon, Lantapan, Bukidnon.

Participated by 27 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and nursery managers from the Province of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon, the training aimed to enhance participants knowledge on the basic principles of nursery management and production of a better and even higher quality of planting materials for a sustainable nursery establishment and production projects that they can share to their clients.

There were lectures and participatory discussions on nursery establishment and management during the three day activity with the expertise of Mr. Henry S. Binahon as the Resource Person. Mr. Binahon is a known nursery contractor in the region and the current National President of the Magsasaka Siyentista.

However, the highlight of the training came from the hands-on demonstrations and workshops on various techniques on plant propagation of the participants facilitated by the staff of BAFF.

After the workshops, the participants presented their outputs as the final requirement of the training. They have also submitted their actions plans that they will be implementing in their respective regions.

One of the major components of BAFF is its successful nursery production. BAFF is also a Learning Site of ATI in the region and venue of the aforementioned training which transpired on August 23-25, 2017.
