EL SALVADOR, MISAMIS ORIENTAL --Last August 17 and 23-25, 2017, twelve learning sites located between Initao to Lala, Lanao del Norte were documented and taken video footages for the center’s video travelogue production. Together with us is Mr. Gift V. Paguntalan, a businessman who wanted to engage in farming.

Among the farms we visited were Buhian Diversified Farm, which showcased duck and chicken production as well as some coco-based products and varied juices such as Blue ternate, Malumansi and CaroMansi. Second, the San Roque Dairy Farm, which showcased its dairy cows, goats and pasture grasses. Their milk is being delivered to the Highland Fresh Plant in El Salvador City to be processed into flavored milk, milk bars and other milk products. Third, the Margeuries House of Goodies which processed agribased products from their farm such as mango tart, puto, sapin-sapin, kutsinta and biko. The group then proceeded to Balay sa Hardin (BH) for lunch. We were served free-range chicken adobo, fresh vegetable salad and fresh fruits sourced out in their farm and served in their famous nipa hut. BH has free-ranged chicken and various vegetables and herbs. They even have cute ornamental chicken. After lunch, we proceeded to Venida Farms which showcased health and wellness value-added products such as dragon fruit, Miracle fruit, mangosteen, cranberry concentrate and buko-dragon fruit shake. The farm also produce coco-vinegar and wines. Dinner is at Queensland in Bacolod, Lanao del Norte. Queensland is known for its various herbs and spices, cranberry juice, free range chicken and many more.
The other five farms we visited are all located in Lala, Lanao del Norte namely: JPL Farm, Jika Farm, Country Farm, S&N Farm and iFarm all had showcased their main commodity, which is the rice. They shared the farming technology they applied in their farm and even showed to us their additional commodity. Lastly, we visited Rancher’s Bay which served us their famous veggie and fruit ice cream fresh from the farm.
The video production is to be shown this coming September 13-15, 2017 during the Magsasaka Siyentista National Summit at Binahon Agroforestry Farm, Songco, Lantapan, Bukidnon.
