The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) joins the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month this July towards attaining disaster resilience.

Executive Order Number 29 signed on June 28, 2017 mandates the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) "throughout the country through the conduct of activities relative to building of disaster resilience covering the four thematic areas: prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response and rehabilitation and recovery."

Facing a new kind of hazard, the resiliency of each Filipino will be challenged including the government with this pandemic. Local government units are challenged to craft their respective contingency plan on how to response to disaster and adapt to the challenge in terms prevention and detection.

The observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month reiterates the importance of understanding disaster risks, strengthening disaster risk governance, investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience, enhancing preparedness for effective response, and implementing “Build Back Better” in rehabilitation and recovery.

This year’s celebration has become more challenging amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since not only that we look out for natural hazards such as flooding and landslide. Now, we have to consider the real threat that COVID 19 brings.

With the theme "Sama-samang Pagsulong tungo sa Katatagan sa Gitna ng Bagong Normal", this year’s NDRM observance focuses on strengthening disaster resilience in the country while adapting towards the “new normal” caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
