OROQUIETA City--“ Agriculture is made-easy through e-Learning”, shared Teodilo Canonoy , a student of Misamis Occidental National High School ( MONHS) during the e-Learning Mass Graduation sponsored by Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X .
Mr. Canonoy was one of 50 graduates of MONHS. With them were the Agriculture Extension Workers ( AEWs ) in Oroquieta City, and students of University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines- Panaon . Most of the students completed more than one e-course, to wit: Banana Production, Urban Gardening, Vermi Composting, and Corn Production.
The graduates were products of the efforts of the faculty of MONHS, and the Farmers Information Technology Services (FITS) Center-Oroquieta City. ATI’s e-Learning has been part of MONHS curriculum in Agriculture technical subjects since 2015. At present, it is one of the strategies being implemented by the school to promote and attract more students to enroll in the course.
One of ATI’s advocacies is to entice youth to go into farming, and help the country address its problem on aging farmers, and the declining workers in agriculture industry.
The activity was held on November 23, 2018 at Upper Loboc, Barangay Hall, Oroquieta City.
