A 3-day training on Rice Based Farming System "Palayamanan" was conducted by ATI- RTC X on October 21-23, 2020 at Barangay Poblacion in Kitaotao, Bukidnon. The training is part of the government’s effort to address the issue on sustainable agriculture. It is composed of a series of lectures about Rice-based Farming System (Palayamanan); Vegetable production, Principles of Palaycheck system, and the Management practices on the production of Free-range chickens. This was participated by 20-rice farmers. The resource persons from ATI include Bryan Jay V. Cabugwason, Moisa Niña C. Paglinawan, Aleli Jean A. Paulican, and Jhoylie Mae R. Caumban.
Participant Rolando H. Alivio thanked ATI for the opportunity given to them to make them hopeful despite the current situation. “Ang pandemic ug ang kabarato sa palay nakasamot sa kalisod sa kahimtang pang economiya sa mga gagmayng mga mag uuma sa humay. Pinaagi niini nga training napa lapdan nako ang akong panlantaw alang sa dugang kahibalo aron makita ang ubang kakuha-an ug dugang nga income aron maka survive taliwala karun panahona” (The pandemic along with the low price of rice makes it even harder for the lives of the small-scale farmers. Through this training, we are able to open our minds to seek for more learnings and to find additional sources of income to survive in this trying times), he said.
The participants, together with the Sangguniang Bayan Chairman for Agriculture Hon. Eddie Beltran and Kitaotao Municipal Agriculturist Romeo Limbaga, received starter kits as part of the post training support to hone their skills using the learnings they learned from the said training.
