Sustainable farm practices and proper farm management represent the answer to all challenges of rice production. Such good practices are favorable for small farmers who don’t have many resources and inputs. Embracing good rice farming practices is the right path to ensure high yields and sustainable crop production.
Malaybalay City, Bukidnon---With the current issues relating to COVID-19 pandemic, long duration of face-to-face training is being discouraged. Thus, to lessen the exposure of participants towards direct interaction, a blended course was used as method of learning. The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) recently conducted a Training of Trainers on Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization with its first week allocated for self-learning activities via online on September 14-18, 2020 and face-to-face mode of learning session on its second week from September 21-25, 2020 held at Veranda Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon with Mr. Bryan Jay Cabugwason as its Project Officer.
The said training was participated by 20 local rice farmers, farm school cooperators and agricultural technicians coming from the different municipalities of Bukidnon. The participants of this particular training learned the blended way approach under the new normal with both lecture and hands-on discussion about the cultural management of rice production. At the end of the 12-day training, the participants are expected to implement the Modified Season-long Farmer Field School on the Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice Seeds in their respective farms.
